Located in the central belt of Scotland, the Ochils mark the start of the highland fault. The steep escarpment of the southern Ochil Range makes for dramatic contrast with the flats of the Forth Valley Carseland, a rise in the land that is visable throughout Central Scotland: as can be seen in the local image gallery. This contrast creates a unique and distinctive landscape which has sustaibably promoted an interesting mix of different habitats, rarely found together within such a small area, for numerous years, the nature of the land offers a wealth of activities and events and has provided the county of Clackmannanshire with power and industry for centuries. The planning of the project and OLP has been underway since August 2007, primeraly led by a steering group made up of individuals from national organisations, local community groups, land owners and interested or enthusiastic persons who have a vested interest in the development of Clackmannanshires natural heritage. This site aims to provide information on the projects, decisions and stages of the OLP as well as act as a base for information about the local area to be shared. if you wish to advertise an event, share a story, photos etc. we would love to hear from you. Thank you for your interest.
